Upsides: You’re unique, and you can be nicer than the pony fandom makes griffons out to be if you’re an opinicus.

You don’t have to act bitchy if you’re playing a griffon. Screw the fandom. Golden Glory is a nice example, as she goes with ‘Proud Warrior Race Girl’ instead. BTW, we got a second canonical griffon now.

And then there are people like Sturm who think that any alicorns are bad, even if they’re balanced, which is probably why he doesn’t like Opinicus.

I do remember Zephyr analysing the otherworldy curse on Sonic Boom’s eggs and using elemental magic to create and control tornadoes. That’s waaaaay beyond abilities of regular unicorns, not counting exceptions like Twilight and Starswirl.

And to boot it, you claimed Zeph to have wingpower just a bit lower than Rainbow Dash. Honestly, sometimes you make him look overpowered…

Griffons are much harder to draw, especially talons. Just look how many amateur artists have troubles with drawing hands.
